From Zero to Indexed: How a Free Press Release Campaign Built APSentra’s Domain Authority From Scratch

Client: APSentra — Procurement Software for Modern Businesses (apsentra.com

Service: Digital PR / Press Release Distribution

Timeframe: 1 week

Investment: $0 in paid placements — earned coverage only

The Challenge

APSentra came to us with a brand-new domain. No backlink history, no organic visibility, no digital footprint at all. In SEO terms, this is the hardest starting point possible: search engines have no trust signals to work with, and every metric — Domain Rating, referring domains, organic keywords — starts at absolute zero.

The client needed two things fast:

  1. Market visibility for its North American expansion and its new “Behind Procurement” webinar series.
  2. A foundation of domain authority that could support future SEO and content investment — without burning budget on paid links or long content-marketing cycles.

Traditional link building (guest posts, outreach, content partnerships) takes months to show results and typically requires either a budget or an existing content asset to trade on. A brand-new domain has neither the trust nor the negotiating leverage to get links quickly through those channels.

The Strategy: Newsworthy Announcements + Free Wire Distribution

Instead of waiting to build authority slowly, we used the client’s own news — a North American market launch and a webinar series on strategic procurement and AI — as the hook for a press release distribution campaign, using free and low-cost wire and syndication channels.

The logic behind this approach:

  • Real news travels on its own. A market expansion and a webinar series featuring finance and AI transformation topics is genuinely newsworthy for procurement, business, and government-contracting audiences — which made the releases easy to pick up.
  • Wire syndication multiplies reach automatically. A single release submitted to a distribution network (such as EIN Presswire) gets picked up and republished across dozens of independent news portals, local outlets, and industry-specific sites — each one becoming its own referring domain.
  • Speed matters more than perfection for a cold-start domain. Rather than pursuing a handful of high-authority guest posts over several months, we prioritized breadth: getting the domain cited across as many independent, indexed properties as possible in the shortest time.

Execution

We distributed two core stories over the campaign period:

  1. “APSentra Launches North American Enterprise Procurement Tool”
  2. “APSentra Expands to North America and Launches Behind Procurement Webinar Series”

These were pushed through wire services and syndication partners, which resulted in pickup and republication across a wide mix of outlet types:

  • National wire syndication: AP News, EIN Presswire (US and Canada editions), OpenPR
  • Business & regional news: Knox News, WDHN, N24
  • Industry/vertical outlets: SamSearch (government contracting news), Cases.media, Qwoted
  • PR aggregators & startup press: PRLog, IssueWire, Newsbywire, StartupMafia

In total, the two releases were picked up and republished on 13+ independent domains across news wires, regional media, and industry publications — all within roughly three months, and all without paid placement fees.

The Results

Here’s what changed for a domain that started with literally nothing:

MetricBeforeAfter (3 months)
Domain Rating (DR)03.4
Backlinks~10305 total (+233 in period)
Referring domains~10247 total (+230 in period)
Organic keywords01 (ranking in Top 3)
Google AI Overviews citations01 (already appearing)

The most important number here isn’t the raw backlink count — it’s the referring domain count. 240+ unique domains linking to a brand-new site is a strong, diversified trust signal. Search engines weight link diversity heavily when assessing a new domain’s credibility, and a wire-syndicated PR campaign is one of the fastest legitimate ways to generate that diversity, because every republishing outlet counts as an independent referring domain rather than a repeat link from the same source.

It’s also worth noting that the domain is already surfacing in Google AI Overviews — evidence that the fresh, well-distributed content is being picked up not just by classic search crawlers but by AI-driven answer engines as well, which increasingly source from recent, widely-syndicated press coverage.

Why This Worked: The Argument for PR-Led Link Building on New Domains

  1. Zero cost, fast turnaround. No outreach cycles, no negotiation, no paid guest-post fees — the entire campaign relied on the newsworthiness of the client’s own announcements.
  2. Built-in diversity. Wire distribution inherently spreads a story across many independent domains simultaneously, which is exactly the signal a cold-start domain needs to establish trust — far more efficient than sequential outreach for individual links.
  3. Compounding indexation. Once a release is live on a wire network, it continues to be picked up by aggregator sites and niche verticals for weeks afterward, meaning the backlink count kept climbing even after the initial push.
  4. Relevance mattered. Framing the releases around a genuine industry angle (procurement as a strategic, AI-relevant function in a recession economy) meant the story was picked up by topically relevant outlets — government contracting news, business press — not just generic PR farms. Topical relevance strengthens the SEO value of each link beyond its raw domain metrics.
  5. A foundation, not a finish line. This campaign wasn’t meant to be the end of APSentra’s SEO strategy — it was meant to give the domain enough authority, indexation, and trust to make every subsequent SEO and content investment more effective.

All placements were successfully indexed and remain valid, with backlinks recognized by SEO tools such as Ahrefs.

Key Takeaway

You don’t need a big budget or months of outreach to give a new domain its first real trust signals. A well-timed, genuinely newsworthy press release — distributed through the right free wire and syndication channels — can take a domain from zero authority to over 200 referring domains in three months, laying the groundwork for organic growth, keyword rankings, and even visibility in AI-generated search answers.
